September 25, 2008

Dear Colleagues,

I am happy to announce that we are gearing up for the annual conference of the Louisiana School Psychological Association.  The Lafayette Hilton will again be our host-hotel from November 5-7, 2008.  Our theme of this year’s conference is:

Forensic School Psychology:  Legal Issues in Education”

Many conference presenters will address the role that legal issues and legislation have played in shaping the delivery of current school psychological services.  Additionally, careful attention has been paid to ensure a broad range of topics to attract everyone’s interest.

Attached is a tentative schedule of events. As speakers are confirming their attendance, scheduling may change slightly. Please check the website (www.lspaonline.org) for changes to the conference schedule and other postings.

Also included in this mailing is a registration form, call for papers/presentations, and School Psychologist of the year nomination form.  . Please send in your registration fees and membership dues as soon as possible to avoid late fees. I urge you to nominate a person who has done something outstanding or unique in your district for the School Psychologist of the Year Award.

Finally, I strongly encourage you to submit a proposal for a paper or poster for this year’s proceedings.  Many of you have developed innovative practices worthy of sharing with your colleagues.  Please take the time to share.

I look forward to seeing each of you in Lafayette!

Sincerely,

George W. Hebert, Ph.D.
